After visiting Ravenna, we headed to Umbria and the hill town of Montefalco. We checked into our villa and enjoyed a snack and adult beverage at the pool. After a little time to relax, we walked into town for a small orientation of Montefalco. We were then free for dinner and the rest of the evening. I enjoyed a nice dinner on the town square with several tour members before heading back to the villa.
The town of Montefalco had recently hosted the Giro d'Italia, a multi-stage bike race. The official color of the race was pink, so the town was appropriately decorated. |
Day 4 was our day to meet St. Francis. As a Catholic, this was an exciting day for me. I'm a big fan of St. Francis, so I was really looking forward to spending some time in Assisi. You will learn more about our time in Assisi on the next page. After spending the morning with St. Francis, we returned to the villa to relax before dinner and our truffle hunt.
The truffle hunt was quite fun. We went to the farm of Tenuta San Peitro a Pettine and after a brief orientation in the family chapel, we headed out to meet our two hunters and their guide. We successfully found a few truffles and then went back to enjoy a wonderful dinner with lots of truffles! We had an even more amazing sunset that night. Click on the pictures below to enlarge them! |
